Heidi Miller
My name is Heidi Miller. I am a senior and Concertmistress of the High School Orchestra. I started playing violin in first grade through a Suzuki program taught by Mrs. Nielsen and continued to study privately for several years, in addition to participating in school orchestra. I am a founding member of the String Chamber ensemble, and have thoroughly enjoyed playing for many social functions, such as weddings, receptions, and open houses, and drawing the public's attention to the school orchestra program. I have also participated in District Solo and Ensemble Contests, playing violin solos, duets, quartets, and with Chamber Ensemble, and have advanced to State on numerous occasions. Ever since our elementary years, I have especially enjoyed playing violin duets with Whitney Townsend for recitals and in church and this year we received a First at State.

I am a member of the Marching and Concert Band, playing oboe, English horn, and mallet percussion instruments. I also have played keyboard for three years for the Show Choir Combo, and played in the pit orchestra for the musicals every year. I have been a member of the Bell Choir for four years, and also have played in a bell choir at my church eve since fourth grade. At my church, I am also a piano accompanist for one of the children's choirs.

At school, I have participated in French Club, Roman Candles, Chapter Book Group and the National Honor Society. I was a Top Twenty Freshman and am now a Twenty Senior and Rotary Student of the Month. In addition to school and my musical activities, I am an employee of the Dwight Foster Public Library.

Listening to music, reading, and keeping up with the recent movies are some of my favorite pastimes.

Music is very important part of my life, and I have had many wonderful musical experiences during high school. Not only have I developed a great appreciation for all types of music, but I have also experienced the emotion and power of music, and the joy that a wonderful performance can bring to others. I hope to continue to play with an orchestra at the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis, as I begin studies in the School of Liberal Arts for pre-pharmacy.

A special thank you to Mrs. Nielsen and the Orchestra Boosters for all that you do!

Shannon George
Shannon George is the section leader of the cellos. She has been playing the cello since 4th grade. She is also a competitive swimmer. She has been swimming since she was seven. She has balanced these two important parts of her life along with her schooling. Hr work at school culminated this year when she was named Rotary Student of the Month and Rotary Top Twenty Seniors. She is planning to attend UW-Whitewater to study Accounting. She will continue to swim competitively in college. She also plans to continue to play the cello, though not in an organized group.
