To perform,
you must look
sharp to B#
Fort Orchestra
students have made great strides in ability since the beginning of the
school year.
Part of that success is based on the first impression
the performers make on the audience when the lights come up an Ms. Nielsen
taps her baton for attention.
"I have seen a large and growing number of students really dressing up for
concerts, which I think is a reflection on their achievements," she says.
Every student can help the orchestra look even better by coming to
performances properly dressed. "We do not have a specific uniform, just as
is the case with a professional orchestra," she says.
She suggests students ( and parents who help decide
what they should wear) use the following guidelines for Fall, Holiday,
Dessert, and Clinic Concerts, and Tours. For the
String Festival only, June 2, 2005, Ms.
Nielsen suggests dressy Spring clothes of your choice.

Repair, Replace, Restring!

Please
remember, students are responsible for
replacing their own broken or worn out strings, and bridges. Check the link
above for stores that carry strings. As children grow they eventually will
need a larger size of their current instrument. Contact your instrument
rental company and they are glad to exchange a smaller instrument for the
next size larger. The new instrument can usually be brought to the school
district and the old one left with Ms. Jordan or Mrs. Nielsen to be picked
up by the music store representative. The representatives from Breber and
White House of Music come to the school district once a week.
Who are Orchestra Boosters?

BoostersMeetings.htm
We all are! Students who are a part of the Fort School
Orchestra work hard. They are learning to play challenging instruments and
work even harder to get ready for performances to entertain their parents
and the community of Fort Atkinson.
Parents and special people who support the Orchestra
program are needed to keep the program growing . If we all put forth just a
bit of effort, time and support, events such as the Dessert concert, various
competitions and fund raisers , will flourish and no one person will be
overburdened. Please volunteer to help out the Orchestra Boosters.
Don't wait to be asked!
The next meeting is Monday, March 14 at 6:30 p.m. in
the Middle School Orchestra Room.
AGENDA: Disney trip, calendar dates for next year,
Geranium Sale, Dessert Concert wrap-up,
