Fifteenth Annual Dessert Concert
( http://www.fortschools.org/hswebs/OrchestraBoosters/DessertConcert.htm
  Special Guests: Chance
It's Dessert Concert time again! Mark March 28 on your calendar and tell your friends and family about this time-honored tradition that combines sweet delicacies with wonderful orchestra music performed by
Fort Atkinson School students. The Dessert Concert is the cornerstone fundraising activity and exclusive
concert of the orchestra students in Fort Atkinson Schools.
Before the curtain raises at the Fort Atkinson High School auditorium, attendees will be treated to an elegant selection of desserts in the High School Commons. The desserts will be served buffet-style starting at 1:00 p.m. in the High School Commons. Pre-concert music will be provided by members of the various Orchestras from 1:00 p.m. and continuing until just before concert time. The Garden Club will be creating a special garden in the rotunda area of the High School Commons again this year for all to enjoy as they partake of dessert and music. At 1:45 p.m. the doors will open for the 2:00 p.m. concert in the High School Auditorium.
From a performance standpoint, the School Orchestras will be showcased with two professional performers. Chance, one of the only voice-cello duos in the world, does it all in the name of art. Ed Willett (Cello, vocals, guitar) and Cheryl Leah's (vocals, alto recorder, melodicia) hit song "Toy Cows in Africa" was first heard nationally on the legendary TV show Northern Exposure. Since then, they have intrigued wildly diverse audiences in over 30 countries both live and over the airwaves . Ed and Cheryl, collectively, have performed and or recorded with such artists as John Williams, Lalo Schifrin, Herbie Hancock, Miroslav Vitous, Michael Columbier and many others.
The $5.00 ticket includes your choice of a delicious dessert and coffee or other refreshment, and admission to the High School Auditorium for Orchestra performance. General seating is observed.
Tickets may be ordered from any Orchestra Student from Mon., March 1, until Wed., March 17. They may also be purchased at Humphrey Floral & Gifts from March 17, 2004 through March 27, 2004.
This fund-raiser provides money to be used for school concert expenses, special guest clinicians and artists, music-oriented field trips, partial scholarships for summer music camps, and youth orchestra tuition.
Volunteers: If you have any questions about your volunteer duties for the Dessert Concert, please contact Trisha Vander Mause, Dessert Concert Chair, for information: triciarae@charter.net or 563-7426.
