Seventeenth
Annual
Dessert Concert
(http://www.fortschools.org/hswebs/OrchestraBoosters/
DessertConcert.htm )
It's Dessert Concert time again! Mark March 19th on your calendar and tell
your friends and family about this time-honored tradition that combines
sweet delicacies with wonderful orchestra music performed by Fort Atkinson
School students.
The Dessert Concert is the cornerstone fundraising
activity and exclusive concert of the orchestra students in Fort Atkinson
Schools. It helps to fund field trips, scholarships and other activities for
Orchestra students throughout the year.
Before the curtain rises at the Fort Atkinson High
School auditorium, attendees will be treated to an elegant selection of
desserts in the High School Commons. The desserts will be served
buffet-style starting at 1:00 p.m. in the High School Commons.
Pre-concert music will be provided by members of the
various Orchestras from 1:00 p.m. and continuing until just before concert
time. The doors to the auditorium will open at 1:30 p.m..
At 2:00 p.m. the concert will begin in the High School
Auditorium.
Seating is general not reserved.
Tickets: $5.00 each. Includes your choice of a
delicious dessert and coffee or other
refreshment, and admission to the High
School Auditorium for Orchestra
performance.
Traditionally, tickets for the Dessert Concert
are sold in advance. Orchestra members take orders for tickets, then turn in
the orders for the actual tickets. The turn in date was Wednesday, March 8
from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. in the Fort High School Commons.
However, there are tickets for purchase still
available at Humphrey Floral & Gifts, from March 8, through March 18.
There will be a few tickets available at the door for the Dessert
Concert, but dessert selection may be limited. Sorry, there are no refunds
on tickets. |
Volunteers:
If you have any questions about your volunteer duties
for the Dessert Concert, please contact Trisha Vander Mause, Dessert Concert
Chair, for information: triciarae@sbcglobal.net or 563-7426.

Concert Attendance
Each Concert is a learning session. It is important that the orchestra
students attend both to perform and to listen. Orchestra students are
expected to stay for the ENTIRE concert, not just the section they play in.
A concert is a student's 'test" in Orchestra and
therefore part of their grade. IF you can not make a concert, your
parents must contact Mrs. Nielsen or Mrs. Jewer BEFORE the
concert. Absence due to due to work, or conflicts, other than illness, may
be reflected as a lowered grade. The yearly concert schedule is published in
the school calendar which is received in August at registration. It is
also on the Orchestra Boosters web site so families can plan ahead. |
Sharp Dress
Means Sharp Acts -
When you look the part,
you play the part.
concert_dress.htm )
Fort Orchestra students have made great strides in ability since the
beginning of the school year.
Part of that success is based on the first impression the performers make on
the audience when the lights come up an Ms. Nielsen taps her baton for
attention.
Every student can help the orchestra look even better
by coming to performances properly dressed. "We do not have a specific
uniform, just as is the case with a professional orchestra," Mrs. Nielsen
says. She suggests students ( and parents who help decide what they should
wear) use the following guidelines for Fall, Holiday, Dessert, Clinic
Concerts and Tours. For the String Festival only, June 1, 2006, Orchestra
Students may wear dressy Spring clothes of your choice.
