361.3 - Use of Video Media
School District of Fort Atkinson recognizes that video media can be a valuable teaching tool. In addition to the media’s content being applicable to and appropriate for the instructional context to which it is shown, the following guidelines should be adhered to prior to student viewing:
Video media rated “G” may be shown at any grade level with the principal’s prior notification.
Use of any video media rated higher than “G” must follow the guidelines below regarding advanced notification and/or requirement for parent/guardian permission:

Under no circumstances should video media with an “NC-17” or “X” rating be shown.
If the video media uses an alternate rating system, parent permission is required prior to viewing for any student younger than the age level referred to in the rating system.
If the video media is unrated, teacher discretion should be used. Any questions should be directed to the building principal prior to student viewing.
Parents/guardians may request, in lieu of viewing the selected video media, their student be provided an alternative activity associated with the same learning objective(s).
