BOARD POLICY 364
364 - Guidance and Counseling Program
The District shall provide a continuous program of guidance and counseling services in grades pre-kindergarten through grade twelve, as established by State Statutes. The Board-approved plan for the program of guidance and counseling services shall be developmentally based and available to every student in every grade of the District. The program shall:
A. Be systematically planned by licensed school counselors in collaboration with other licensed pupil services staff, teachers, parents, and community health and human service professionals;
B. Be provided by licensed school counselors in collaboration with other licensed pupil services staff, teachers, parents, and community health and human service professionals;
C. Provide developmentally appropriate educational, vocational, career, personal and social information to assist pupils in problem solving and in decision making; and
D. Include student appraisal, postsecondary planning, referral, research, and student follow-up activities.
The School District shall not discriminate in the methods, practices and materials used for counseling, evaluating and testing students on any basis protected by federal, state, and local laws.
