AR 383 - Procedures for Animal Use and Care
Teacher Education
All teachers who use animals in the classroom must be familiar with the
- Care and handling of any live animals used
- Normal species behaviors
- Abnormal species behavior that may signal distress or illness
- Zoonosis
- Appropriate methods of euthanization for individual species
- Appropriate statutes
- Proper disposal of animals and animal parts
Information regarding the care and use of animals in the classroom should be included in the teacher handbook.
Any anesthesia or euthanization should be done by the approved method and/or in consultation with a licensed veterinarian.
