POLICY 383.1
383.1 - Service Animals in Schools
The School District of Fort Atkinson recognizes that service animals may be a reasonable accommodation for assisting individuals with disabilities while at school or at school related events. It is the policy of the School District of Fort Atkinson that service animals assisting individuals with disabilities are permitted upon review and approval in all facilities and programs of the school district. The animal must be “individually trained” to do something that qualifies as work or a task. An animal that is merely a “pet” or “support animal” is not a service animal. The use of service animals is legally allowed in public facilities by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
