Get into the Reading Habit!

Read with your child every day.  Even older children still enjoy being read to. 

Talk with your child about the story. 

• Talk about what is happening. 
• Ask questions--WHY did that happen?  WHY did the character do that? 
• Talk about how the story relates to your life. 
• Talk about new and interesting ideas or words.

Set a time for your child to read to you.  Some students will have books that are sent home to reread to you.  Talk with your child about the story.

Make reading a fun family activity.
