Meet Ms. Witkins

  • My own Kindergarten experience left a lasting impression on me.  I loved spending time with my teacher, Mrs. Anderson.  She sang, played the piano, had a classroom full of toys, and taught us how to make messy art projects.  It was a magical year!  I knew right away that this was definitely what I wanted to do when I grew up!

I worked with preschool and school-age children throughout my high school and college years.  I loved watching the young kids get excited about a new game or project.  They brought a sense of enthusiasm to each day!

After graduating from UW-Whitewater with my teaching license I was thrilled to accept my dream job as a full-day Kindergarten teacher at Purdy Elementary.  The very next year I moved across the street to begin teaching at Fort Atkinson's newest school, Luther Elementary!

I've had the privilege of working with many amazing  teachers and families.  They have inspired me to continue my own education and you will often find me taking classes or tackling new projects in the classroom.  I happily earned my master's degree in education from UW-La Crosse in 2007.

When I am not at school you will most likely find me hanging out with my family.  I have two beautiful and energetic daughters, Sonja and Sarai.  They keep me on my toes with their spunky attitude and non-stop energy!  We go for walks often and love spending time at the library finding new books to read.

Kindergarten has changed a lot since the days when I attended elementary school, but I hope you will see my passion for this grade level as you peruse this website.  The Kindergarten year continues to be a unique experience where playing and learning go hand-in-hand.
