My name is Mrs. Smith and I teach 7th grade S.T.E.M. and 8th grade science at Fort Atkinson Middle School. This is my sixteenth year teaching at the middle school level. When I am not at school, I enjoy traveling, gardening and spending time with my family, including our Labradoodle named Chance. 

My goal as an educator is to instill the love of lifelong learning by preparing and exposing students to standards to meet future learning expectations. I teach with perseverance and tenacity; therefore, I set rigorous goals with my students and assist them in meeting those goals by creatively teaching them how to utilize learning tools in the learning environment. I believe students should be inspired and given opportunities to problem solve and think critically about the world around them through authentic experiences where they can discover new knowledge, collaborate with peers, and strengthen independence in the educational setting. Instruction in this classroom is tailored to meet the needs, aspirations, cultural backgrounds, abilities, and interests of my students.
