My name is Mrs. Jessica Gary and I love working with the Band and Orchestra students in the Fort Atkinson school district!
I have been a teacher in the Fort Atkinson district since 2006. The 2017-18 school year is my 12th year here!
I am originally from Monticello, Minnesota which is a town west of the Twin Cities. I moved to Wisconsin in 2002 to attend college at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. I graduated from the UW with a degree in Music Education in May of 2006. I completed my Masters of Education degree from Carroll University in 2009.
I began playing the piano at the age of seven, and the French horn at the age of eleven. From age seven on, I participated in every music activity available. In college, I learned how to play the other instruments and I now enjoy playing all the instruments with my students! I started teaching in Fort Atkinson in the Fall of 2006. I have always loved music, and I am thrilled that I get to share that passion with students every day.
I married my husband Jarel in July of 2011. Jarel is originally from Madison, Wisconsin. We met while we were both attending college. Jarel works in the IT department at Cuna Mutual in Madison.
We live with our two dogs in Sun Prairie. We have a puggle (pug/beagle) named Kiwi and a chilab (lab/chihuahua) named Tilly. We picked out Kiwi when she was only two weeks old and we adopted Tilly from a dog rescue group when she was about a year old.
We are expecting our first baby in December!
I am also very close to the rest of my family. We spend a lot of time together. Jarel's parents, brother, sister-in-law, and our niece and nephew live in the Madison area and his sister lives in California. My parents live in Minnesota, my brother and his fiance live in Fargo, ND and my sister and brother-in-law live in Mankato, MN with our niece and nephew.
Outside of school, I enjoy being active! I especiallylove swimming, hiking, running, and walking with my dogs.
I also LOVE movies and movie theatre popcorn!
