We are excited to let you know that our plan, sent out to everyone back on May 19th for a diploma presentation ceremony on July 19th, is now scheduled to happen! Our creative media team has put together this short VIDEO for students and families of the FAHS Graduating Class of 2020 to provide additional information about this upcoming diploma presentation ceremony day on July 19th, 2020.
It is also very important to know that your School Board of Education, the FAHS Administrative Team and the School District of Fort Atkinson, place student and community safety as the foundation for our decisions and planning. With this in mind, please be aware that there could be modifications to this plan as new and emerging guidance is brought forward from our local leaders, area safety officials, or the State of Wisconsin. There is also a possibility that the event will not be able to occur based on the rapidly changing landscape of community safety in Jefferson County and Wisconsin as a whole. If this is the case, as we have done throughout this pandemic, we will communicate this information as soon as we possibly can. Should this ceremony need to be cancelled, we will provide notification and follow the original plan to mail the diplomas to the addresses of our seniors listed in PowerSchool.
Some very important details for this event are:
--A maximum of FOUR family members may join their student and will remain together throughout the event.
--There will be a mandatory check in process at the front entry way to collect names and phone contact information for each person in attendance on July 19th in the event further contact is necessary. The event begins at 11 am - please arrive no sooner than 10:45 am.
--Face covers will be required once exiting your vehicle and will be required to remain in place throughout the event. We ask that you please be respectful of physical distancing guidelines and remain at least six feet from other graduates and family member groups.
--Along with diplomas and their covers, a small gift to each member of the senior class will be provided and pre-purchased yearbooks will also be available for pick up if not done so already.
--In the video, the stage and other props are provided for representation only. The ceremony itself on July 19th will contain a much more elaborate set up and formal environment. Although it may seem overly detailed, the video itself does provide very specific protocols that will need to be followed in light of physical distancing and safety precautions necessary for the safety of all present.
--As the flow of the entire process will be fairly brisk, seating will not be available during the progression of lines into the building and through the gymnasium except on an emergency basis.
--We also ask that you please complete this RSVP SURVEY so we can gauge how many people will be in attendance. If you have any questions, will be unable to make this ceremony and/or would like to pick up your diploma at a different time, we ask that you please contact students' associate principal, Mr. Gefvert for last names beginning with the letters A-L or Mr. Rousseau for students with the last names beginning with the letters M-Z, to coordinate receipt. Diplomas not picked up by or on July 19th will begin to be sent to addresses listed on PowerSchool on July 20th.
We are excited to be able to celebrate this incredible accomplishment with all of you! Congratulations again and thank you for your support and patience as we all navigate together these challenging times together.
