Mrs. Anderson

Dear Families,

Welcome! I hope that you had an enjoyable summer and are ready to begin a successful school year.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself.  I graduated in 2001 from UW-Madison with a BA in International Relations. After a few years in the business world, I realized that what I really wanted to do was teach.  After returning to school for several years, I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education from Aurora University.  I have since earned 30 postgraduate credits and attended several national professional development conferences. I am so thankful that I found my passion in life ~ teaching! I taught 5th grade in Janesville 7 years before joining FAMS in 2013. I teach 7th grade Language Arts and am an advisor for our student senate, FINS.

My husband Matt and I have been married for 16 years. We live just outside of Fort Atkinson near the family farm where he grew up. Matt works for an agricultural company called Winfield United and spends his time working on crop protection. We have a son named Cal who is in 7th grade this year, and a daughter named Caroline in 5th  grade.  Cal enjoys spending his free time farming, fishing, and hunting. Caroline loves playing soccer and doing crafts. As a family, we enjoy camping, boating, and showing calves.  In my "free time" I spend time training for triathlons and reading.

As far as my thoughts and philosophies about education are concerned, I believe that a partnership between home and school is essential in providing a successful school experience for your middle schooler.  I believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience and that students should feel safe and comfortable in their classroom and their school.  Finally, I believe that each student is a unique individual who has the ability to be successful.

Working together and keeping open lines of communication helps students understand the partnership between home and school. Please feel free to jot me a note, give me a call, or stop by after school to talk. I am looking forward to a really awesome year at FAMS!

Sincerely,

Kim Anderson
