Luther Mileage Club

The Mileage Club for 2018-2019 will begin in late September!

 It's fun to run!

Mileage club is something that all students in kindergarten - fifth grade may join.  During afternoon recess students may run or walk around the Luther Loop for exercise and fun.

The Luther Loop is a designated track on the playground marked by large signs cemented in blue gallon pails.  Each lap is 1/4 of a mile.  The goal for each student is to see how many times he or she can run/walk around the Luther Loop each time he or she participates.  Each time a student completes a lap he or she receives a mark on his or her mileage card.

Students will be rewarded with a shoe token (brightly colored plastic shoe) to wear on a chain necklace after every five miles.  Students will receive a special token when they reach 20 miles.  At the end of the year, all students who ran at least two miles will receive a certificate of participation at the all-school assembly.  The top runners will also have the opportunity to go on a special field trip that focuses on fitness.

All awards are designed to provide students with a sense of accomplishment, recognition, and a source of positive image building.

Check out the bulletin board by the gym to view how many miles everyone has run so far this school year.
