Mrs. Stack

Hello families,

I joined the FAMS staff in 2018 and I am a Special Education teacher ranging from ID to Cross Categorical. This year I will be teaching ELA, math, science, social studies, life skills, independent living skills, offering swimming when it is safe to do so, and cooking when it is safe to do so. As the year goes on I will be facilitating a peer program to build genuine and lasting friendships between middle school students as well as break down barriers associated with ability, and facilitating a student run coffee business when it is safe to do so. I integrate relationship building, sensory regulation strategies, Zones of Regulation, and Social Thinking social skills work into all my classes. I believe that students need to be at a place to learn before I try to help them access the curriculum. Before FAMS I taught at Oregon High School and Aldrich Intermediate School. The 2020-2021 school year will be my 6th year teaching.

I live in McFarland with my husband. This past summer we adopted our first rescue dog! He is a senior dog who just wants to cuddle and go on walks, and we also have a turtle that has been around for over a decade who loves to eat bananas and bask on her fake log. We enjoy spending our time with our families (mine from Iowa and his from outside Barneveld and Stoughton) and friends, spending time walking outside, playing board games, and watching movies.

I look forward to a year full of learning for both the students and myself. I am a firm believer that students do best when families and staff can work together for consistency, compassion, and knowledge. I know that you are an expert in and love your child, and I am excited to work as a team with you!
