4K Program
Welcome to the School District of Fort Atkinson's Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K) Program! Our district has a mission of achieving distinction in all we do, starting with our youngest learners. We work collaboratively with local child care providers and preschools to offer 4K at various community partners. Each site has a highly-qualified, Department of Public Instruction certified teacher who receives District-provided professional development and curriculum resources. Our 4K mission is to create a positive, enriching 4K program and provide engaging activities for families. We believe that our youngest learners should have the opportunity to develop socially and emotionally through developmentally appropriate pre-academic learning and play-based activities.

The School District of Fort Atkinson is proud to partner with BASE to provide families wrap-around care for students enrolled at Purdy Elementary 4K. Wrap-around care will also be offered at Parents Cooperative Preschool for students enrolled at Parents Cooperative Preschool 4K. Offering district-provided (no cost to you!) wrap-around care for 4K students attending these locations provides equitable options that are already available at our other three sites and responds to feedback provided from our community and families indicating a need for full-day programming.
When is the wrap-around care available?
Wrap-around care will align with the District 4K Calendar and will be provided only on school days when 4K is in session (Monday-Thursday) during school hours. Wrap-around care will be offered 7:30AM-11:30AM or 11:30AM-3:30PM.
Is District 4K Programming still available at all partner sites?
Yes! The district continues to partner with St. Joseph Catholic School, Kids Konnection, Head Start and Parents Cooperative Preschool to provide quality 4K instruction.
Is District 4K Programming still available as an AM or PM option?
Yes! You can still choose between AM or PM 4K programming that will best fit your child’s needs and family schedule.
What will the wrap-around care service look like at BASE?

Is transportation being provided between 4K and BASE?
The district shall be responsible for transportation of students between designated 4K instructional sites and BASE.
What if my child needs care before 7:30AM or after 3:30PM?
Please reach out to your wrap-around care provider for extended care hours. Any care in addition to wrap-around would not be district-provided.
