8.4.2020 Fall 2020 Reopening Handbook Draft 1
Good Afternoon SDFA Families!
Last night, our Board of Education received an update on the back to school plan for the School District of Fort Atkinson. After some discussion, the Board of Education affirmed the following:
- Continued development of a 100% virtual format for families.
- Continued development of a 5 day a week in-person learning format.
- Given the information at this time, schools will open on September 1, 2020, in both a Virtual and In-Person learning format. The In-Person format will require face coverings of all staff and students.

Fall 2020 Reopening Handbook Draft 1
A first draft of the COVID-19 School Reopening Plan Handbook was also shared with the Board. This will be updated on an ongoing basis as we continue to learn more and receive additional guidance from the Jefferson County Health Department and other accredited organizations. We recognize that this document may not answer all of your questions. Please know, we are developing building level details that will be shared with families in the near future.
Please find the Reopening Plan Handbook HERE.
Learning Format Preference
As you are aware, registration for the 2020-2021 school year concluded yesterday afternoon. If a family’s learning format preference changes, families must notify the district by Friday, August 21 using the Change of Learning Format Request Form on the District website. This form will be available next week. Can you note where specifically this can be found on the website?
The district is encouraging families to commit to a learning format selection for one quarter (9 weeks). If a family feels a change in learning format needs to occur within the quarter due to an unexpected circumstance or academic need, requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Please stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
We look forward to working together to bring both of these learning experiences to our School District of Fort Atkinson learning community!
